Custom Estate Residence with Guest House, Bedford, New York

A ground-up custom estate residence with guest house set within a former quarry at crusher road in Bedford, New York. Conceived as a private family compound of enduring quality and luxury, the project is organized as a series of composed buildings set into a natural, native landscape. The main house and guest house are positioned carefully within the site to establish a sense of place with complete privacy. Spaces are generous without excess, arranged to support both intimate family use and larger gatherings. Circulation is legible and calm, with a clear hierarchy between public and private rooms across the main house and guest accommodations. Materials are selected for longevity, craft, and quiet richness. Natural stone, and hand scraped black American walnut millwork is used throughout. The house is designed to use stone structurally, all locally quarried for the ultimate sustainable approach, as used by our ancestors for thousands of years. Powered by geothermal wells and a solar array on the south slope of the guest house, the compound is net positive in its carbon impact and will operate with an energy surplus year on year. A private retreat shaped by care, discretion, and architectural rigor, intended to serve our clients family for generations.
